Mod Restoration on-sight furniture repair!

Attention , NY, NJ and CT

While looking for someone to re-web the seat of an old danish modern love seat, steam clean a couch and make me new cushions for the love seat.... I ran across this website. I searched and priced everywhere..... This place Mod Restoration was my choice! The prices are right and they do everything from re-upholstering, furniture repair, steam cleaning and almost all services are done in the house! Then you don't have to lug anything anywhere, if they have to do something on site they pick up and drop off as well.

It's great and I highly recommend them. If you do go to them for anything talk to "channy" pronounced "honey". She is great and super helpful and tell her I sent you!

Best initial/monogram necklaces!!!

I seems that everyone is wearing "letter" necklaces.... they either have the letter of their first name, kids names, animals names, or their initials.. We know that in the 80's monogram's were everywhere, on sheets, towels, sweaters, housewares etc. Now you can wear them around your neck... below are some I realllly like!

1. Tiffany sterling silver "notes" round pendent. $165.00. All girls love that little blue box, this is an awesome gift!
www.tiffany.com
2. Nick Blum sterling silver initial necklace, in Gothic lettering 205.00.
This comes in capital letters too!
www.gemvara.com
3. Phyrra letter necklace $130.00
love the look of the letter stamp, looks like they melted the wax and closed a letter (no pun intended). This is my favorite jewelry store! This also comes in bronze!
www.phyrra.com

4. Helen Ficalora letter charm. Comes in silver and gold, silver charms are 50.00, gold charms 105.00. If you google her name you can find a ton of distributors, or go to her site and order by phone.

5. Sonya Renee gold square monogram pendent 125.00.
Obviously this was shown in "InStyle". To be TOTALLY honest I saw this in UsWeekly (yes, I love to read gossip). The square shape makes it super modern, a nice change from the traditional circle pendent.

6. Zoe Chicco Silver monogram locket $200.00.
Not only can you have your initials on it you can put teeny tiny pictures inside!
love the antique style of this one.

April Showers Bring May flowers!

Umbrella time!!!!!! For me I tend to lose them all the time ... but, it doesn't stop me from buying new ones. The clear umbrella's happen to be my favorite.
When Lost in Translation came out we all fell in love with Scarlett's clear umbrella.... and also fell in love with Scarlett. I still think it's the umbrella to have!

1. Bubble Umbrella clear dome $15.95

2. Transparent Clear Regular style umbrella $16.99

Hang some shadow boxes with things you collect!

Shadow boxes are awesome! Not only do I love the depth of them, but you can fill them with any thing you find! I tend to collect shells from the beach, coral fans, cool sticks and twigs, feathers of birds, bird nests... of course when I come across them... anything from the outdoors. You can basically fill them with whatever you want, keepsakes, special notes etc....
It is such a fun little project with out making too much of a mess and a cute way to display things....

shadow boxes are all around you can buy them pretty much at any store that carries frames....
here are examples from pottery barn.

CUCKOO for COCONUTS

Coconut, coconut, COCONUTS!!! I am in love with anything coconut, coconut cake, coconut cream pie, pina colada's, malibu coconut rum, coconut scented candles, shampoo, you name it anything with the scent or flavor I am NUTS for it (no pun intended)!

The smell instantly brings you back to the beach even in the dead of winter, but now that is it spring it gets you excited for summer. My obsession is beyond, I am always searching for anything with the scent. These are the best products I have found with the truest scents of pure coconut.

1. Mountain Ocean Skin Trip
The prices vary for this product for some reason...
but the lotion and soap are amazing. The Lotion is not greasy at all and the soap is non drying and both leave skin super soft.

2. Philosophy "Coconut Frosting" 3 in 1 $16.00
This is a Shampoo, Body Wash and Bubble Bath. I like to take this on vacation because it's so many things in one. This smells just like the name DEE-LISH!

3. Desert Esscense: all products are $8.99
They are amazing, and just came out with Shampoo and Conditioner! It is great for dry hair, since coconut is so moisturizing. Their products include shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, body wash and hand and body cream, the smell is divine and you can buy it at Whole Foods.

4. The Body Shop: Coconut Shower Cream $13.00 & Coconut Spray Lotion 16.00
Yummy creamy body wash, is great very moisturizing and smells the most authentic.

Coconut Spray Lotion: THIS IS AMAZING it is so light and you really don't think it will be as moisturizing at all... but IT IS. I love it because sometimes after a shower you throw your lotion on and don't have time for it to sink in...then you put on your jeans and oof it is a little sticky, this lotion is non-greasy and sinks in quick and is perfect for summer and winter!!!! I LOVE!5. Target "Bungalow Glow" soy candle in Coconut Volcano $14.99
I don't know what a volcano smells like really but if it smells like this then I want to live by one... ha ha not really..... This cute candle comes in a polished coconut shell and looks and smells great!
6. Air Wick "Serene Coconut Breeze" scented oil, $6.39 for a twin refill pack.
Smells great and isn't over powering , just adds the perfect amount of scent to your room of choice. It is a limited time only scent so stock up so you can have it through winter!!!

Get your Green Thumb on with Paper Whites!!!

(1st pic. my paper whites with polished stones)
(2nd pic is my ball jar with fish bowl pebbles)
One thing I love to do is bring a little springtime into my apt...
they are super easy to plant and they bring such great life into your house or apt.
You can go to almost any plant store and buy the bulbs, they are super cheap around $3.99 for 4 bulbs.
This is fun to do with your kids too, watch them grow and enjoy the sweet smell they have!

1. buy bulbs
2. get any polished stones, pebbles or marbles......they love to have a porous base... I have a little japanese fighting fish and had left over pebbles from his bowl so I used the rest of those.... you have to rinse them and have them clean.
3. get a container with out drainage holes. I personally put them in ball jars, such a cute look.
4. fill the container with the pebbles and leave about an inch from the top.
5. place the bulbs on top of the pebbles and cover them a little bit so they are secure and not wobbly.
5. Fill your container with water. Just kiss the bottom of the bulb... you don't want it any higher or the bulbs can get moldy and rot.
6. Wait for you paper whites to grow....
I like to use clear containers so you can see the root growth and how they are coming along... it's very important to maintain the water level because they drink it up. Paper whites grow tall so to support them I use chopsticks and wrap a little twine around to keep them standing tall.
In about a week you will see them grow and bloom beautiful little white fragrant flowers....

Best "Flokati" rug buy!

Flokati rugs are super popular... I think they are great! You can put them in any room... I just love them, the problem is they can be super expensive.

At abc carpet and home they are 100.00 for a 3x4, TOOO MUCH!

Ikea has the best buy. It is a well made perfect size rug. I have mine over my big rug to soften up the room....

Ikea Flokati Rug 79.99
size 6'7"x 4'7"

My new favorite purchase!!!

While rummaging through my receipts for taxes I struck gold and found a Marc Jacobs credit....
I am obsessed with my new purchase and think I have worn it a million times since I got it.... It's awesome. Now don't all run out and get it HA HA.
